SISC II Property and Liability was established in 1978 and currently serves 126 educational agencies in 14 counties throughout the State of California. Our total ADA of approximately 396,000 students and our Total Insured Value in excess of $11.7 billion makes SISC II one of the largest Property and Liability pools in the state. SISC II is a self-administered program with in-house staff and affords a wide range of coverages to our members for Auto, General Liability and Property exposures. Our organization focuses its efforts towards the best possible service to our members in the area of Claims Management, Safety and Loss Control, and Student Accident Coverage.
Our experienced staff of Adjusters and Examiners provides professional and timely service to our members. Staff is available to guide members through the claims process beginning with the notice of an event to the SISC II office and/or the filing of a Claim for Damages. Our members regularly seek guidance from staff in all areas of the claims process. Adjusters and Examiners are trained to make recommendations to our members concerning responses to claims for damages. In addition, the vast majority of claims presented to SISC II are handled by in-house staff from inception to conclusion so each member has a consistent contact from start to finish of any particular claim or event. In the event a claim cannot be resolved and litigation ensues, our Adjusters and Examiners collectively have over 100 years of experience in handling claims and working with defense counsel. SISC II’s defense counsel panel represents some of the most experienced litigators in the public-entity field. We are proud of the work we do in managing litigation and the costs associated with the defense of these claims.
Safety and Loss Control
Our Specialists in the field of safety and loss are dedicated professionals who work hard to help member districts avoid the risks associated with the business of operating school districts. These services are provided at no additional cost. Our Specialists provide guidance in areas of, but not limited to, AHERA reinspections and management plans, environmental issues, liability exposures, premises inspections, as well as property loss prevention. In addition, Safety & Loss Control affords online, as well as onsite, training to our members on numerous topics. We believe that all of these services promote the desired goal of fiscal responsibility for our member districts.
Student Accident Coverage
The benefits afforded by SISC II include a Student Accident Coverage Program imbedded into the Liability Memorandum of Coverage. This program is also self-administered and provides protection for uninsured students, promotes positive public relations with schools, and achieves savings in claims dollars by helping to prevent simple injuries from developing into contentious liability claims. Our experienced staff of Examiners works diligently to process these claims as quickly as possible while also preserving the integrity of the program. The coverage is designed to pay for expenses incurred for any one accident that exceeds the limit of, are less than the deductible of, or are not covered by other insurance available to the student from any other source.
