We realize that a big part of the reason any product is purchased is because of the service that accompanies the product. The following section of frequently asked questions is designed to help you make the best use of your Medco drug and Delta Dental benefits.
Questions about Medco
Q:Does Medco have a toll free customer service number?
A: Yes. The number is (800) 987-5241. This number can be used for several purposes:
- To obtain information regarding co-pays and plan benefits.
- To obtain information about coverage for specific medications.
- To order refills for the mail order service.
- To obtain information about specific claims.
Q: What is the maximum quantity of a prescription drug that can be obtained at a retail pharmacy?A: Prescription drugs obtained at a pharmacy are limited to a 30-day supply on almost all SISC plans.
Q: Is there any way to obtain a supply that is greater than 30 days?
A: Maintenance medications (medications used for long-term health conditions) are available through the Medco mail service for supplies of up to 90 days. In order to fill your prescription by mail:
- Have your physician write the prescription for up to a 90-day supply with up to 3 refills.
- Complete a Medco mail order form (your district office has a supply of forms available or you can call customer service to have forms sent to you).
- Send your prescription, Medco mail order form and payment by either check or credit card to the Medco mail order facility.
- Allow 10 to 20 days from the date you mail your order for delivery of your medicine.
- Refills can be ordered by telephone if you charge them to a credit card.
Q: Does my Medco benefit restrict coverage to only drugs on a formulary listing?
A: No. However, some plans do require higher co-pays for brand name drugs that are not included on the formulary listing. If your distrcit has a plan that uses the formulary listing, your district office can provide you with copies of this listing.
Questions about Delta Dental
Q: Does Delta Dental have a toll-free customer service number?
A: Yes. The number is (866) 499-3001. If you have any questions about your benefits or a claim, the staff at this number can assist you.
Q: Do I receive a Delta Dental ID card?
A: We do not issue ID cards for Delta Dental. The only information a dental office needs to submit claims to Delta Dental is the Social Security Number (SSN) of the covered employee. NOTE: Do not use the SSN's of any dependents on the plan.
Q: When does my annual maximum for dental benefits renew?
A: Benefits renew on January 1st of each year.
Q: Where can I find information on the benefits of my Delta Dental plan?
A: Evidence of coverage booklets are available through your district office.
Q: Where can I obtain a listing of Delta Dental providers?
A: The most current listings are available on the website at www.deltadentalca.org. Be sure to look at the appropriate listing for the plan you are on. Additionally, your district office has listings available.
